Nomination Process

Step 1

  1. Browse the award categories and pick the category that suit your nature of business the most.
  2. Download the Nomination Form for the category that you would like to nominate (maximum 2 per company, you have to submit twice if you are nominating for 2 categories).

Step 2

  1. Fill in the nomination form (digital fill in ONLY).
  2. Print out the declaration form and sign it to confirm all the information is true.

Step 3

  1. Fill in the Basic Details (applicable to Section A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H).
  2. Fill in the Award Specific Details on Section I.
  3. Attach the
    • Nomination Form,
    • Scanned copy of stamped & signed Declaration Form,
    • 3 years audited accounts. 2016, 2017, 2018,
    • Form 24 & 49,
    • Other supporting documents(in zip file),
    • Payment receipt.
  4. Nominees will receive a confirmation email from official PBA 2019 email.

Definition

This is bestowed on a successful individual who is widely recognised as an outstanding entrepreneur and leader of the industry.

Selection Criteria

The award recipient must exhibit entrepreneurial spirit and must have originated from an SME previously, whose business has since grown to become a business corporation OR a public-listed corporation.

His/her achievements must be impressive enough to inspire thousands of business entrepreneurs who are looking for a role model to emulate, especially as a CEO or Managing Director of a listed company.

Definition

This award is bestowed on:

  • companies that were formerly family-owned SMEs, but have grown beyond the size of SMEs to become business corporations or public-listed corporations.
  • Established and successful non-Malaysian owned business entities which have prominent presence in their respective industries.

Selection Criteria

The award recipient must have been in business for 5 years or more and have reported profit for the last 3 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on ASEAN SMEs (excluding Malaysian SMEs) operating in any ASEAN member country which has demonstrated excellent track record and financial performance.

Selection Criteria

The award recipient must have been in business for 5 years or more and have reported profit for the last 3 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on corporations or institutions such as government statutory bodies, NGOs, financial institutions or service providers/facilitators which have contributed significantly to the promotion and development of SMEs in the country.

Selection Criteria

The contribution by award recipients could be pecuniary or non-pecuniary in nature to the SME community to help develop or improve their operations.

Definition

This award is bestowed on the creme-de-la-creme of non-listed SMEs that excel in every aspect of corporate performance.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have performed extremely and equally well in all five core judging criteria, namely, business and company, management philosophies, products and markets, operations and technologies and financial performance.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which have successfully created a strong and positive image for their branding initiatives on the company, product and/or service. These brands are not only well-accepted but also enjoy strong top-of-mind recall among consumers.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have achieved a high degree of instant brand recognition by the public.

Definition

This award is bestowed on SMEs which achieve outstanding performance in distributive trade, retail or wholesale.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 5 years or more and have reported profit for the last 3 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on SMEs which demonstrate effective and progressive employment practices, including adoption of progressive HR policies, e.g. recruitment, retention, learning and development, reward, work-life balance, and commitment to promote betterment of employees.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 5 years or more and have reported profit for the last 3 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which excel in overseas market penetration and derive the bulk of their revenue from export.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have at least one or more of their products and/or services are exported and the export revenue contributes to at least 50% of the company’s total revenue.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which have effectively integrated Green Technology in the production process, or have produced Green Technologies that are environmentally friendly and are now in great demand in local and/or overseas markets.

Green Technology refers to the development and application of products, equipment and systems used to conserve the natural environment and resources, which minimizes and reduces the negative impact of human activities.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 3 years or more and have reported profit for the last 2 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on SMEs that demonstrate high productivity performance, use of local talents to achieve excellent productivity performance, and continuous effort to further enhance organisational productivity through best practices in business management.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 3 years or more and have reported profit for the last 2 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs heeding the government’s call to automate and adopt ICT in their businesses to attain operation efficiency and compete efficiently in the market.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have taken practical and aggressive initiatives towards adoption of ICT and reaping benefits both operationally and financially as a result.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs with emerging business that apply new technologies, or cater to customer needs through application of innovative processes, market research, brand development, visionary leadership, etc., which are rising fast or making a big impact on the business world in recent years and are now in great demand in local and/or overseas markets.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be either the intellectual property owner of the product innovation, the legitimate promoter of a business model that presents a new business concept or the bold but sensible creator of a new market.

Definition

This award is bestowed on SMEs involved in the development of the Internet of Things (IoT) which includes the ecosystem, devices, and software.

IoT refers to a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, or people that are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 3 years or more and have reported profit for the last 2 years.

 

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which are recognised for their outstanding initiatives in promoting occupational safety and health awareness as well as long term commitment in nurturing a ‘safe and healthy’ work culture among the employers and  employees.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have introduced initiatives that promote occupational safety and health awareness, demonstrated strong management leadership and active participation in occupational safety and health.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs recovering strongly from a major corporate or financial crisis or setback.

Selection Criteria

Nominees should have experienced either major financial set-back but recovered and/or managed to reinvent themselves during a corporate crisis and continued to excel.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs that commercialise and produce outstanding made-in-Malaysia products in the market.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must possess product, with at least 50% local content, which is a major contributor to company revenue.

Definition

This award is bestowed on SMEs that demonstrates distinctive packaging design which fulfil the needs of safety and environment friendly, while it is able to achieve practicality, originality and creativity, and maximum shelf impact.

Selection Criteria 

Nominees must be in business for 3 years or more and have reported profit for the last 2 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on young SMEs presently at an early growth stage. Revenues and profits may fluctuate for these companies, but these nominees have demonstrated perseverance under a competitive operating environment.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must have been in business for less than 7 years and have reported 2 consecutive years of operating profit.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs that provide outstanding services in the service industry.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be in business for 5 years or more, and have reported profit for the last 3 years.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which have carried out significant initiatives in the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arena and have been able to balance profits and social good.

Selection Criteria

The CSR initiatives must have taken place (either in part or in full) during the last 2 years. Some of the work must have occurred during this time, but it can be on-going during the eligibility period.

Definition

This award is bestowed on non-listed SMEs which are headed or founded by women entrepreneurs.

Selection Criteria

Nominees must be at least 50% owned by women entrepreneurs or with the women entrepreneurs as primary decision makers.

Definition

This award is to highlight Malaysia’s best and brightest young entrepreneurs and to recognize their innovative spirit and business acumen. They take risks with their personal financial security and have exceptional drive and commitment. Often they start with little more than an idea and grim determination to succeed.

Selection Criteria

The nominee must be a Malaysian aged 40 and below. He or she must be a CEO or Managing Director and has been involved in the company’s daily management for a minimum of 3 years and owns majority controlling interest of the company.

Guidelines For Submission

1. The nominee is allowed to submit a maximum of 2 Award Categories.

 

2. One nomination form is applicable for the submission of ONE Award Category only.

 

3. The nominee must indicate the Award Category (ONE only) that the company intends to submit for in the nomination form.

 

4. All sections of the nomination form must be completely filled in. Please indicate N/A where appropriate.

 

5. All information provided in the nomination form will be treated with full confidentiality.

 

6.Completed nomination form must be attached with the following :

  • Latest three (3) years audited accounts
  • Complete Forms 24 and 49 (or equivalent forms under the Companies Act 2016)
  • A cheque or Online Bank Transfer for the payment of the processing fee of RM1,500
    Cheque can to be made payable to “SME MALAYSIA”
    Online Bank Transfer can be made payable to
  • RHB Bank Berhad Account No. 2-12312-0005892-0
  • Other relevant supporting documents or information deemed appropriate

 

7. The organizer does not undertake to return documents and/or supplementary material which are submitted along with the nomination form.

 

8. Names of applicants, commentary and scoring information developed during the review of applications are regarded as proprietary by the Award Committee and are kept strictly confidential. Such information is available only to those individuals directly involved in the assessment and administrative process.

 

9. The organiser does not undertake to return documents and/or supplementary material which are submitted along with the nomination form.

 

10. Names of applicants, commentary and scoring information developed during the review of applicants are regarded as proprietary by the Award Committee and are kept strictly confidential. Such information is available only to those individuals directly involved in the assessment and administrative process.

 

11. Nominations must be submitted online at www.pbasme.com.my by 15 September 2019.

 

12. All the nomination form should be filled in soft copy and submit via www.pbasme.com.my and no hardcopy submission is allowed, save paper save earth.
